Energy firms announce price hikes so shareholders can turn business trips into holidays

Energy companies confirmed today that rising household bills will support “greater flexibility” for shareholders’ travel plans.

Executives said the additional revenue would allow investors to extend routine business meetings into short breaks, with costs of accommodation, meals, and leisure comfortably absorbed.

Industry leaders described the hikes as a modest adjustment, emphasising that customers would barely notice the difference compared to the significant lifestyle improvements for shareholders.

Ofgem welcomed the move, calling it evidence that the energy sector continues to create opportunities for growth.

No support measures were announced for customers.
